How to remove previous owner from refurbished AirPods and complete Find My setup?"

I bought a refurbished airpods. I was able to add the airpods in my “find my” app. However, it won’t continue with the whole process, it shows “airpods mismatch” and “airpods set up incomplete”.

I tried following the instructions to complete set up. But it still won’t show the location of the device.

I’m thinking it’s because the airpod is refurbished and still paired under the previous owner’s account as it shows “mismatch”.

How will I be able to unpair it from the previous owner’s account and have it only be showing under mine?
