Is Roku's Black Friday Apple-TV offer a scam?

ROKU is offering Black Friday discounted specials, one of which is three months of Apple-TV for free. So I signed up, and during the process saw an intermediate screen echoing the terms of the subscription, and thought I was all set. Then I got an email directly from Apple, thanking me for signing-up for three weeks of free Apple-TV, and that I'd start getting charged after the 3-week period. So first I chatted with a Roku agent, who was of no help, then tried to ask someone at Apple, but found it's evidently not possible to deviate from predefined categories when asking Apple questions, so wasn't able to get help there either. Does anyone here on the forum have a 'definitive opinion' (oxymoron) on matters such as this? Thanks!

The offer on the Roku offers page is quite clear: 3 months.

Terms and conditions: Offer ends 2/3/2025 at 11PM ET. Available in the Apple TV App on Roku streaming devices. New subscribers only. Plan auto-renews until cancelled. Terms apply.

  • Current and previous subscribers would not be eligible.
  • One has to sign up for Apple TV+ in the Apple TV app on a Roku streaming device, not on a different device.

Did you meet all the criteria?

If there is a discrepancy between what Roku says and what Apple says, then you have to get back with their support staff. None here can do anything about that. We here are all users just like you.
