You haven't told us where you live and why you need an iPhone with a physical sim? It's a fact, you cannot buy one in the US. If you don't live in the US, you shouldn't be considering buying an iPhone in the US. You should buy your iPhone in the country you live, where it will have full warranty and be optimized for the region of the worls you live. Just so you know, iPhone warranty is NOT international. Warranty applies to the country of original purchase. And Apple 'may' limit warranty service to the country of purchase and that is stated in Apple's Legal iPhone Warranty.

Yes, order it from China, but expect it to be missing major features, possibly have warranty issues, and other obstacles that will not provide the full iPhone experience.
Has something changed, we're not aware of? It's been my understanding one can't order an iPhone from Apple from a different country and have it shipped to you outside the country it was ordered from?

There are multiple Chinese retailers that sell products and ship overseas. So, can the OP get the iPhone they want? Could it be a counterfeit iPhone, yes. Could it lack warranty, yes. Could features like Apple Intelligence be unavailable, yes. Could there be other unknown/undisclosed issues, yes.
But, can an iPhone 16 Pro with SIM slots be ordered from China? Yes. But buyer beware unless specifically ordering from Apple.
Which is why as Senior Contributors on this forum, we shouldn't even suggest someone buy an iPhone from China, if they don't live in China. Just saying........
No. Apple doesn't sell them there, and if you happen to find a secondhand one, you'll likely be denied warranty or AppleCare+ service on it.

Products are imported by manufacturers through official channels and the products they offer are intended for the markets they are sold in. Going outside the official channels, other products may be available with features sets that are not available in other markets. Please walk into a Toyota, Lexus, Nissan or Honda dealer and buy a right hand drive car. Huh, none on the lot and they can’t supply or order one.
So, your line of thinking with regard to BS needs to be reevaluated and restated in the proper context.
If you want a product outside the official importer or market channels, you buy one from a non-official importer, but there are risks. Please read again my comments and other community members that have shared opinions and thoughts. Purchasing outside official channels may offer enough rewards/features that it outweighs the numerous limitations. How good are you at repairing your own screen? Warranties have economic value, even if not immediately realized.

Any place outside the US sells iPhones with 1 SIM card slot and 1 eSIM including Japan.
China, Hong Kong and Macau sell iPhones with 2 SIM slots and no eSIM provisioning.

Yes, I am from the US but I travel frequently and like to use SIM cards from other countries and not get eSIM. I actually have a permanent phone number via Sim card in several countries. I was very upset when iPhone took out the SIM card here in America Thereby really making things more difficult when I travel. I truly don’t get why they did it except it must have something to do with money 😂. I travel in Asian countries and eSIM just isn’t a thing in a lot of places. They have physical SIM cards. Anyway, I travel to Japan soon and I suppose I will buy one from the Apple Store while I am there even if it’s not Warranted here. PS Been to China many times, and I would never buy a phone from there. 😂
You’ll have some warranty service. But perhaps with some limitations. My understanding of the SIM card slot is primarily Apple is trying to make the device more water resistant (verging on waterproof) and it requires removal of SIM card slot and physical buttons.
Japan only sells iPhones with SIM cards, but I don’t think I can order one from there. Do you know anything about that? I think it is BS that we don’t have that choice here!
