Unable to use Messages for group chats with Android users post iOS 18.1.1 update

Ever since a group of us iPhone users upgraded to 18.1.1, we and the android users (there are 6 total - 4 iPhones and 2 androids) can no longer utilize group texting as fully functional.

We’ve tried making sure everyone is using SMS for texts because that new RCM seems to have totally messed things up. One of our android users even went step by step with technical support only to have texting work only with 4 people.

As we “progressed,” someone kept getting left out of being able to receive texts, or respond to texts but not having responses be visible to anyone.

It’s a big mess, and we don’t know what else to try. And yes, everyone has restarted their phone umpteen times as well.

Does anyone have suggestions? Is Apple working on resolving these group texting issues in the form of another update?

Apple technical support suggested I do this, and it worked.

KNOW THAT THIS IS GOING TO RESET YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION TO FACTORY SETTINGS.

AFTER YOU DO THE STEPS BELOW, YOU WILL HAVE TO SET UP YOUR WIFI AGAIN, SO BE SURE YOU KNOW THE NAME OF YOUR WIFI ACCOUNT TO CONNECT TO, AND YOUR PASSWORD.

On your phone go to Settings.

select: General

then select: Transfer or Reset iPhone

then select: Reset

then select: Reset Network Settings

After your phone comes back on, go back to Settings and select WiFi to set up again as described above with the name of your WiFi account and password.

i then created a new text group of everyone I wanted, and it is working fine now.
