Battery health dropped from 98% to 95% (4 Nov to 27 Nov) 2024, following 20% 80% Rule

I am using 13 pro, phone's battery health on Nov-4 was 98% and it was 96% on 26-Nov. Now, it's 27-Nov, battery has been dropped to 95%. I am following 20-80 rule to charge battery and usage is 6-7 hours daily. I am unable to understand why it's dropping rapidly. Is it due to iOS update 18.1.1 ?

Apple should consider this issue as many people are facing this issue worldwide.

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 18

Battery Health does not decline in a linear fashion. The battery might go for 3 months and not drop at all, then drop 3% the next month.

Over longer time periods, Battery Health will decline at an average of about 1% a month.

How old is your phone? If the Battery Health is now 95%, this indicates that your phone is likely about 5-6 months old. If your phone is older than 6 months, you are doing better than average.

While it is a good idea to let the battery charge go much below 20%, my opinion is that 80% charge limit is a hurting your battery more than it is helping it. You have to charge the battery more often with an 80% limit and the extra charges may actually result in more stress on the battery.

I get better results by setting the battery on Optimized Battery Charging and connecting the phone to the power supply at night and leaving it connected all night.....every night. The phone starts each day at 100% and usually makes it all the way through the day.

If you are concerned about the battery, you can have it tested at the Apple Store or at an authorized Apple service shop at no charge. But, I think they will tell you that your battery is doing just fine.

Do you mean it should be charged to 100% instead of 80%?
Moreover, I have checked my battery charge cycle count which is 173 now.
I am using 20W charger, should I continue using 20W?
Is it effected by leaving location sharing on all the time or background app refresh on?
I have noticed that people are facing this issue with battery health dropped to 3-4% just in a week.

You should send flowers to Apple. You bought your iPhone 28 months ago. As already suggested, on average, we see about a 1% decline in Battery Health per month. Your iPhone Battery Health should be MUCH lower than 95% after 28 months. Keep doing what you're doing as your Battery Health is nothing short of AMAZING after 28 months.

I already explained that it is perfectly normal for the battery to go 2, 3 even 4 month and not decline at all, then drop 3-4% the next month.

With 173 charge cycles, your battery health should be about 93%. If your battery is at 95% now, you are very lucky to have a much better than average battery.

Stop wasting time worrying about your battery. Just replace it when it is down to 80% Battery Health.

Batteries, like people are individuals. No two people age exactly the same and batteries don’t age the same either. The exact usage, chemical make, storage conditions, exposure to heat and cold and about a dozen other factors mean that every battery ages differently. Battery aging is not a linear (straight line) and degrades at different rates as the chemicals in the battery age and the other factors mentioned above. Apple expects your battery health to be at 80% after 24 months. If your battery health misses that expectation, contact Apple Support.

You are far above the average and your phone is performing exceptionally well. Your battery is only calibrated when it has been allowed to charge to 100%, so what you have seen is the result of manually controlling the charge percentage by never letting it calibrate. It does not hurt the battery by doing that, you just won't be able to see accurate Battery Health numbers and when it is allowed to charge to 100% and calibrate, you may see a larger drop then what you would expect.
