All Reminders gone after iOS 18.1.1

Today when I opened my phone, after an update (iOS 18.1.1), it asked if I wanted to update reminders to the newest version. I clicked yes and when it came back on all my reminders and lists were gone.

I logged into my icloud to see if I could restore with the a backup but the option to restore the reminders is not there.

HELP!

Same thing happened to me. I had been syncing my reminders with iCloud, but when I logged into iCloud the reminders app was empty. I tried restoring from a calendar/reminder archive. (You can find those instructions here Restore your reminders on iCloud.com - Apple Support ) But that did not bring my reminders back.

Then I disabled the "sync reminders with iCloud" switch and all of my reminders came back. (I am guessing that my reminders were still in my iPhone as "local" reminders, but hidden or masked by the empty set of iCloud reminders that my phone was synced with.)

I then turned the "sync" on again, and my local reminders populated my set of iCloud Reminders once again.

All is now right with my reminders.

Thanks so much for the help but unfortunately I DONT use Apple icloud because it is too expensive, i just back up to my PC using Apple Itunes and now the new Apple device backup. I am disappointed with Apple support , they did confirm that this had happened to "other valued customers" and they said I should have backed up to icloud so I came away thinking it was all my fault with loosing all my data instead of possibly some hiccup in the version update.

I have just returned from my overseas holiday so next week I will be attending the Sydney Apple technical support to see what they can do . But , I am guessing I will have to restore from my 4 month old backup and see what eventuates with that . Lose of current Ipad Pro data from a regular software upgrade should NOT HAVE occurred in the first instance.

Thanks again for your help. Greatly appreciated.
