I have tried various plugs and cables, including directly into the wall and using connections that work with other devices. Help

Apple has some suggestions here, though you've tried some of them:
If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support
If nothing helps, make an appointment at an Apple Store or authorized Apple service center and have your iPhone diagnosed.
