Unable to add a card to Apple Wallet to use with Apple Pay

There are several possible reasons you might be experiencing issues. So let’s start with a few basic steps. I’ve added links to support articles that may offer solutions to issues you might encounter. 

Are you in a country or region that supports Apple Pay?

Does your financial institution support Apple Pay?

Confirm your region is set correctly.

Change the language and region on iPhone - Apple Support

Change your Apple ID country or region

Is your region set correctly? Are you in the Wallet app? The icon for the Wallet looks like this,

Do not go into Settings app. Is your iPhone updated to latest iOS?

What does >no VPN is active< mean? Do you have a profile on your iPhone? Have you reset your network settings?

Do you use a VPN, ever had VPN software or a VPN profile on the iPhone?

It all needs to be deleted and network settings need to be reset.
