Search results layout too narrow

This question was asked in 2020, in an older OS.. The suggested solution cannot be applied in the more recent OS.

I'm trying to get a solution in a 2019, Apple 27" Intel iMac, running Sonoma.

How do I get Safari to show a full screen when I do a search. I've gone through preferences and each time I do a search, it comes up on the left hand side in a tiny font.

iMac 27″, 14.7

Good Day John

Thank you for your quick reply

However the problem was not on a web-site, but on the Google page with the search results.. Everything was pushed into a narrow column on the left side.

BUT. (i'm even more confused now)

The layout/arrangement has changed, I do not know why, I made no further attemps to fix/alter anything after asking my question here.

The page with the search results now has a wider column (not the full screen, but wider), I can now read & access much easier. screen cap below.

I can live with this result, But I have no idea why things changed. I had not seen items boxed in before, Store web-sites & Youtube videos, but items isolated in round corner boxes are new to me.

I appreciate your help, but I'm going to let things ride for a while before digging around some more.

May install Sequoia and see what happens.

Thank you

🤷🏻‍♂️

Perhaps Google changed something.

A Google page with search results is just a webpage like any other, isn't it? And if that's the case, you can change how Safari renders it, on an individual per-website basis. That's what I was thinking, but I don't use Google. Try the suggestions in If Safari doesn't open a page or work as expected on your Mac - Apple Support. Some of them are more useful than others.
