Missed call notification won’t go away

Or… to be more precise, it DID go away, but only after following the advice below; turned off badge notifications (in settings - notifications - phone), then switch phone off, then on again. Hardly ideal, but it worked for me first time on this occasion. I’m hoping there won’t be another occasion anytime soon, as it’s a PITA, especially if like me, you rely on these notifications for REAL missed calls.
