some iCloud data isn't synching

My MacBook Pro and iPhone 12 Pro. I had an update on Wednesday for my MacBook Pro which is when this all started. I bought a new Apple Watch today (Black Friday) and it won't let me set it up until I am able to fit the end to end encrypted data issue. I have now re updated everything.

It is telling me that I have the wrong password for my MacBook Pro (I am using the correct one)..

I have signed out of iCloud and both devices and signed back in. Nothing fixed.

It is now telling me I need to delete all iCloud data to be able to use end to end encrypted data. This is highly frustrating since this just came with an update.

I see that this has been a current issue a few times. Looks like sometimes it has fixed itself, or people try a lot of things and somehow fixes it self. While other people have lost all their data, via resetting their phones. I do not want to lose my text messages and photos.

So what can I do to get this fixed so I can pair my new Apple Watch that I just dropped a good chunk of money on???

Troubleshooting Login:

A. Log in, while Booted in Safe Mode:

In Safe ModeLogin Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, and see if you can the login. Once tried, wait 30 seconds, and then restart won’t Mac, booting up normally. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

B. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Report this to AppleApple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback Apple receives on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in upcoming updates.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all started after installing an update, and how you have troubleshot it thus far. Include the URL to this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Safely Clear the iCloud Storage:

You can only store so much in iCloud. So, clear space…

One unique method...

Download All of iCloud:

One thought would be to download all of iCloud, and then search through it in Finder on a Mac. You would download it to an external drive, and then open the drive in Finder. Search through it using the search bar on the top-right corner of the Finder window. Once found, you can trash what's in iCloud using FinderUse my user tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip
