2 factor verification codes not received with wifi calling

Last month I upgraded to an iPhone16. Since then 2 factor authentication codes no longer come through to my phone via wifi calling (no cell service where our house is located). As soon as I get within cell service range, accumulated code messages come in.

The exception is from AT&T (my mobile provider) - while trying to get support from them, THEIR 2 factor message came through.

Other than authentication codes, messaging seems to work fine with both iMessages and SMS messages.

I've tried most/all of the fixes found via Google searches, but so far no luck, although I haven't been able to get to a live chat or person at AT&T (no surprise there...).

Thanks for any suggestions...

From what I recall banks started implementing the changes back in June or July. Apple may have needed to implement changes in iOS 18 or it could have been in a security update. I have no idea what iOS or what updates were on your old iPhone. But security will only become tighter and tighter as time goes on. We’ll all have to get used to it, I’m afraid.

Id suggest calling your bank’s support team and seeing what they know about this.
