Macbook pro with intel processor keeps crashing

I have The MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.6 13-Inch (Mid-2014 Retina Display) with a 22 nm "Haswell" 2.6 GHz Intel "Core i5" processor (4278U), it is monterey and a few months ago it completely refused to start or charge and was instead dead. I recently decided to start it up and it ended up working again, but it keeps crashing whenever I used it, I decided to completely clear our my files, cache and applications through recovery mode but it is still crashing after this. im currently trying to update it to monterey 12.6 in safe mode since it kept restarting earlier while doing this. Is the cause of it crashing cause of it not being updated or is there other issues? (I also tried to boot up apple diagnostics test but it refused to open and instead gave me an error about my network connection.) Ive had this issue before but is there any way to completely stop it from crashing and make it work faster?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.7

The mid-2014 MBP doesn't run Monterey, but the early-2015 does. If this is in fact a 2014 model, then maybe you've made some mods (?) to install Monterey, and if that's the case it could very well be the reason the Mac is crashing. You'd do well to erase and computer and reinstall the latest version of OS 11 Big Sur, the newest that the 2014 can officially run.

If this is a 2015 MBP, then the computer may well be the victim of a failing startup drive. Unless you can get the OS reinstalled and run a diagnostic on the drive we won't know for sure what problem is the cause of the crashing. Without knowing the cause, one cannot eliminate the problem.

If you want to keep and continue to use this obsolete Mac, you might consider buying an external drive, installing a compatible macOS on that and then using it to startup the computer. This may require that you use another Mac of similar vintage to install the OS.

macOS Big Sur is compatible with these computers

macOS Monterey is compatible with these computers

If you ultimately find that the drive is not the problem, you haven't wasted money on the external drive as you can now use it for other purposes with any other Mac.

Regardless of which Mac this is, it is obsolete and wants to retire. You should let it. It really isn't worth spending time or money on a ten year old computer.

Try running the third party app EtreCheck and posting the complete report here so we can examine it for clues.

You can also try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

Make sure to disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.

Try running Disk Utility First Aid on the hidden Container. Within Disk Utility you may need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the hidden Container appears on the left pane of Disk Utility. Even if the First Aid summary says everything is "Ok", click "Show Details" and scroll back through the report to see if any unfixed errors are listed. If there are errors listed, then run First Aid until the errors are gone.
