Unable to scan a document from my Scanner on MacBook Pro after Sequoia update

I am sorry you are having scanner problems. If you will bear with me, I will offer some things to consider which may be useful. Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then a new OS compliant software must be installed for the scanner. What you can do is to thoroughly check the scanner vendor's web site for updated compliant software that works. If none is available, then you should ask when it will be released. Another alternative is to download and try the full featured scanner software from VueScan. You can try it for free. It will show a watermark until you purchase it. I bought it and can recommend it. VueScan Scanner Software for macOS Catalina, Windows 10, and Linux

Scanner vendors are solely responsible for keeping their drivers current with the newly released versions of macOS. Apple provides these vendors with software development kits to enable this compatibility, but some vendors ultimately drop support of older scanners and associated driver support. Then the scanner doesn't work with the old drivers… The vendor drivers for Apple's Image Capture usually have the acronym ICA in the driver name and one can select the operating system version on the vendor's site to see if they have kept up with released drivers.

The mentioned VueScan Professional currently supports 7759 scanners, many without any vendor drivers. You can search for your specific scanner model on the VueScan site and determine whether it requires a vendor driver or can be used without any vendor driver.

I have owned VueScan Professional since 2010 and have never paid for any upgrade fee. I receive no benefit from the VueScan vendor for recommending their product here.

Have you checked with Cannon to see if there is an updated driver for your scanner?

You might also try the 3rd party VueScan app. I had to resort to that app several years ago for my Nikon slide scanner.
