My MacBook Air M2 shuts down when the battery drops below 10%

My MacBook Air 2024, purchased in August, automatically shuts down (Black screen and trying to start but again shuts down) when the battery drops below 10% without any warning. Sometimes, it shows a message saying it restarted due to an error.

My battery health is 100% with only 60 0-100% cycles completed and MBA is updated to the latest macOS Sequoia 15.1.1.

Dont let it drop to below 10% would be the easiest solution

if you want to troubleshoot further you might want to see if this behavior remains in the safe mode. If it remains in the safe mode it is most likely caused by an external piece of software

Start up your Mac with Apple silicon in safe mode

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.
