How to turn off Voicemail on my iPhone?

If my phone goes to voicemail it’s because I’m busy. I don’t want distracting scrolling text appearing that others could read. Total invasion of privacy and I don’t want it. Once again fixing a problem that does not exist! How on Earth can I turn this off?

Voicemail transcription is a service of your carrier. A switch is available to enable and disable the feature. Please follow this path,

iPhone > Settings > scroll down > Apps > Phone > Live Voicemail > turn off, if it is off, momentarily switch on and switch off.

Wrong. Per Apple support: "Live Voicemail lets you automatically see a real-time transcription as someone is leaving you a message. You can even pick up the call as they're leaving their voicemail." It simply let's you see transcription "live" as the message is being left. Turning this parameter off only disables seeing the transcription in real time as the voicemail is being created by the caller.

Maybe your question is not the same as the OP. They were referring to information about Live Voicemail, since a normal voicemail message does not appear on the lock screen, nor does the transcript. Live Voicemail also requires you to tap on the voicemail button that appears on the screen when the call is connected.

Regular voicemail transcription are under the voicemail tab when you open the phone app. If you do not wish to get transcriptions, you need to contact your carrier to have them turn that feature off at their end to prevent your voicemail from being transcribed.
