Is Apple Pencil compatible with Words with Friends?

My son loves words with friends but he’s still recovering from spinal surgery and his hands are too shaky. I would love to use the Apple pencil for him to move the letter tiles but it doesn’t seem to work. I turned off scribble but that didn’t help. Is the pencil not compatible with that particular app?

Pencil will not convert handwritting to text in any app Scribble is activated and I can't seem to convert handwritting to text. I have picked the text pencil icon and nothing happens. It says scribble and shows it is selected. The board moves but I can't write. I can pick any other icon and I can draw but not conversion of text. I am on ipados 17.11 and I have the same problem in multiple apps including notes, onenote and freeform. What's up with that? What am I doing wrong. I have reviewed videos on youtube as well.

Turn off scribble and can’t use Apple Pencil for notes in iPad Turn off scribble and can’t use Apple Pencil for notes or pages in iPad. It scrolls the page up and down but can’t no longer use it to handwrite.
