Why is the Tabs Search bar missing after iPad update?

I saw that someone else had asked this question in September, however, it just started doing this to me after my iPad updated about a week ago. When I have many tabs open on my iPad I’m not seeing the search bar at the top anymore that allows me to search my open tabs. When I tap the two squares, which is how it was done before, the search bar has disappeared. This is not something that should have been deleted. Does anyone know if there’s another way to find it?
