MacBook Pro physically breaks SD cards

Good Morning!

It it possible that the SD card readers on the M2 / M3 models are physically braking SD cards? I recently pulled mine out and noticed that the plastic near the contacts cracked. It broke within a month of using it with my MacBook. Turns out that many coworkers with M2 or M3 models are having a similar experience.

Since I'm relatively new to Mac and have never experienced any SD cards breaking with laptops from other manufacturers, I just wanted to ask: Is this a known problem or is it just bad luck or misuse from our side?

For now I'll just use an external reader as this seems to be a quite effective solution.

Thanks for your reply.

I am aware that the SD slot on a Mac is not 'spring-loaded'. I don't want to push any responsibility off myself. I've been using this card for about two and a half years now with different Cameras (Sony, Canon, Blackmagic), different inbuilt readers (ASUS, Acer and HP, none of them were spring-loaded) and different external readers (LMP, Digitus, StarTech and Hama, none of them were spring-loaded either), but it broke after using it for one month with my new Mac. And since I have seen users on here, complaining about the Macs SD readers making their card unreadable, I figured, that this SD card breaking issue might also be a (known?) problem. It also seems to me, that the force used to hold the cards in my Macs reader is quite high compared to others I've used.
