Using Apple Music On Apple Watch Without iPhone

Hello

I subscribe to Apple Music and I'm wondering is it possible to listen to music using AirPods and an Apple GPS non cellular watch and without songs downloaded on the watch?

This is the situation where I'm wondering if this is possible.

Public WiFi is available at the gym I go to.

So, if I connect the watch to the available WiFi and then ask Siri to play a song and with the AirPods connected, should that work?

I would not have the iPhone with me while exercising and would not be using Spotify on the watch.

I'm considering getting an Apple watch and that is why I'm wondering about this.

Hello

Thanks for the reply and links.

I got the Watch, a series 9, and have it up and running.

Along with syncing to the 7 songs I have on my phone, it looks like it has also synced to my iTunes library.

I wasn't expecting that as I don't have my phone synced to my iTunes library.

I'm assuming now that there is no need to use the public WiFi at the gym in order to listen to the songs that appear to be on the watch.

The Bluetooth connection between the watch and AirPods should do the trick?

Hoping to get to the gym today and find out if that is the case.
