iPhone overheating 15 pro

In mid-September I was traveling from Colorado to the midwest. My iPhone 15 pro would drain its battery in less than 5 hours and would always be hot. I worked with Apple support to find a fix, but after being in Chicago for a day, the issue went away. It worked just fine even after we returned to Colorado. Mid-November I went back to the midwest and it started all over again. From Nebraska to Iowa to Illinois to Kansas. During that time if I put it in airplane mode it would cool down. I'm back in Colorado and it might be acting okay. Still waiting to see what it's going to do.

Hello,

I think the problem might be that your cell phone provider didn’t have enough coverage in the area you were traveling through. If your phone keeps searching for a signal, it’ll drain your battery pretty quickly.

The next time it happens, try putting your phone in Airplane Mode until you get a better signal.

Different model iPhones have different modems (different software & firmware), different antenna placement affecting signal reception, different cases affecting signal strength, etc.

The carrier writes the firmware for the modem and some (most?) software. Have you stopped by or called your carriers store or support team to make sure your device is updated?

Yes. I'm aware that every version of an iPhone is different. But I don't have issues in rural Colorado. If I go camp for a week in the mountains, often with 1 bar LTE (like I had in the midwest), there are no issues. The phone does not overheat. It was getting so hot that it wouldn't even charge.

But my wife's iPhone and my parent's iPhone had no issues. And so I'm supposed to just not use my iPhone for several weeks while I visit family?
