Whatsapp pegging CPU

Hi everyone.

I just updated to the latest version of WhatsApp on my MacBook Pro. Everytime I launch it, the CPU usage ramps up and the fans go crazy.

Also, there's some weird greyed out icon that's been sitting in available updates for months.

I tried contacting WhatsApp, but I just get an automated reply saying they don't offer support on the desktop app. Is there anyway I can troubleshoot this?

Thanks.

I noticed that WindowServer usage is also running high—a clue to potential third-party software interferences. Do you have anti-virus or so-called "cleaning" apps installed? They can be performance killers. So can cheap client-side VPNs—the ones that spend 💵 millions 💵 scaring people with TV adverts.

You realize that WhatsApp is part of the FaceBook family and not part of Apple? If the developer cannot support the app, nether can we end users or Apple.
