Sort photos not in any album on iPhone

I need to see which of my iPhone photos I have not put into any album. How do I do this with iOS18?

I can’t use a Mac for this. It’s important I be able to do it on iPad or iPhone.

I’ve looked at all the support docs on Photos app, but I don’t see where this is addressed. It’s got to be there somewhere. I am probably not using the correct terms to describe the feature.

What are the steps for me to be able to sort or otherwise see which of my photos I have not placed into any album?

Thanks

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18

iOS 18 can show you, which albums a photo is in. It is one of the pleasant surprises in iOS 18. If it does not show you a list of albums, if the photo is not yet in any album. But you will have to view each photo separately, to see, if it is in an album or not.

Try this:

  • When you view a photo, swipe up to see the details below the photo.
  • Below the location map will be a message "contained in ... albums".
  • Tap this message to see the names of the albums.

For example: (sorry. my screenshots are in German, but I hope you can see where the album information is)

Tap there, to see the names of the albums.
