I was trying to open a voice message my gf left me but it shows that the voice message is 0 seconds and looking at it looks like she said things and for a while and when I try clicking on her contact to message her now my phone only gets really laggy and slow when trying to text her back. It’s fine with any other contact besides hers and my internet is fine.

I have the exact same issue. The first voice message says it's 0 seconds, and around there the whole chat just lags and I can't send, type, or listen to any voice messages. It only happens on that chat where we send lots of voice messages, and especially when there is a voice message that says it's 0 seconds long. What's weird is that this happens on my IPhone 12, on my Ipad Air, and on my macbook air. And on each device, it's only with that very specific chat.
Plus when I manage to make my phone not lag in the imessage app while being on another chat (without voice messages), when I preview the chat with voice messages, the design lags and the lines of the voice recording jitter.
