i have recently upgraded to an iPhone 16 pro and as many others seem to have an issue with bad battery life. So amongst many checks I have made sure that Background app refresh is turned off in my settings. However, when I go into settings for specific apps it is still on and greyed out so that I can’t even change it… how can I really turn off background app refresh?
You’ve already turned it off. It’s off. When you enable background refresh again, Amazon will automatically start refreshing.
I have nearly 500 apps on my iPhone. When I turn off background refresh and turn on again, I don’t want to manually go through 500 apps individually turning them on or leaving off.

Do you have background app refresh turned off in Settings > General > Background App Refresh? If so, you turned them off and greyed them out when you turned off refresh.
Yes, have turned it off as you described under settings and that’s all good. But when I go into settings for a specific App (under Settings > Apps > any app e.g. Amazon) background app refresh shows as on and is greyed out so can’t turn off).
