Popular choices are HP, Epson and Brother. You will find many contributors here lend preference to one or other. Laser can be expensive for initial outlay. Some inkjet printers are cheap to buy, but require expensive ink-cartridges and/or subscriptions for these consumables. "Tank" inkjet printers, more recently introduced to the market, don't use replaceable ink-cartridges; tank printers may have an initial higher outlay, but have substantially lower running costs than laser or traditional inkjet.

Speaking of personal experience with AirPrint, I've not experienced any issues whatsoever with an HP7605 multifunction inkjet. Being full colour CMYK inkjet (tank) printer, running costs are low with excellent print quality. Unlike many inkjet printers, you are not reliant upon expensive cartridge replacement. The four ink tanks can be re-filled as required; the two print-heads (one black, one colour) can be independently replaced if needed.
