I have an iPhone XR bought in 2019. The phone itself runs fine but the battery isn't good, it drains fast! is it worth it to get a battery replacement? How much does it cost to have it done a the Apple Store? How long does it take?

That's a decision only you can make. The cost at your Apple Store is $89. If the phone meets ALL of your needs and you don't need any of the newer features Apple has introduced over the last few years, it can be cost effective. While we don't know which iPhones will get iOS 19 next fall, it would be logical that iPhone XR will be frozen at iOS 18 going forward.

If you don't happen to have an Apple Store nearby, you might have a Best Buy store in your area to handle the battery replacement. Another option would be an authorized Apple service shop.

Best Buy and the local shops don't require an appointment for a battery replacement, but it would still be a good idea to call in advance, if only to make sure that they have the battery for your phone in stock.
Unless the store or shop is really slow when you take the phone in.......unlikely.....plan to drop the phone off and pick it up a few hours later that day. The shop will give you a time when the phone will be ready.
