Thank you for your reply. I currently live in Japan. I did not have this thought about after completing the setup process. Do you think the AirPods Pro 2 continuously communicates with the iPhone used for configuration?
No. They are standalone and you can separate them from the iPhone or iPad without problems.
The problem would come when you need to make any changes to volume or noise cancelling or whatever you want to do. Then you need your iPhone or iPad to make those changes.
Are you saying that the settings dynamically adjust based on the surrounding environment and sound conditions, requiring the iPhone to function properly? If that’s the case, that’s great to know.
They do if you set them in Adaptive Mode. It's the mode that I use the most as noise cancelling and volume change automatically according to the environment. You don't need an iPhone for them to do it.
If you walk into a very noisy environment sometimes Adaptive is not enough and you want to increase noise cancelling and also the volume of talking coming into your ears. You can’t make any changes without an iPhone although you can change Modes and volume using the switch on the AirPods themselves but I have never used it.
I also contacted Tier 1 support, but unfortunately, they were not familiar with the mechanisms behind these features.
I'm not surprised.
