Older iPad Pro battery level reading.

Have an older iPad Pro. This AM, after 30 minutes of use, charge dropped to 53%. Upon restarting, battery level read 83% (as expected). First time I've seen this. Any ideas as to what's going on? Thanks

iPad Pro, iPadOS 17

As described, your iPad battery may have a fault, or may be reaching the end of its usable life. If the battery has failed or is failing, the iPad show inconsistent state of battery charge, unexpectedly turn-off, or may not successfully boot to a running state even when connected to its Power Adapter.

Are you able to use the iPad while remaining connected to your Power Adapter? If yes, while monitoring the indicated battery state, disconnect the Power Adapter; if the indicated battery state suddenly falls, or the iPad shuts-off, this test demonstrates the iPad battery having reached the end of its usable life:

Thanks for your response, though I have an uneasy feeling that I am responding to an AI agent.

My older iPadPro does seem to working fine now. I did purchase an iPad Air 11 a few months ago but returned it as the battery life did not seem significantly better than my current iPad and Apple reneged on a trade in for that older iPad due to a slight fault in the display (there is a very small bright white area).
