I recently purchased an older model Airport Express (the AC adapter version) from Facebook Marketplace. After receiving it, I set it up, updated the software, and it worked perfectly for a day. However, it suddenly stopped working, with no light indicating power. Is there anything I can try to troubleshoot this issue, or is it likely beyond repair and needs to be sent to a professional?

Send the A1084 back for a refund. Repairs would involve paying someone to saw open the case and then try to troubleshoot to find the defective component(s).....if....they are even available. That's probably $150+ (U.S) for starters.
If you want an AirPort Express, look for the A1392 model on eBay. It runs much cooler than the earlier versions and should last much longer. Prices should be in the $30-50 range.

If it was me, I would send it back for a full refund. This base station is very outdated and is considered "obsolete" by Apple. Basically that means they will not repair it, not stock repair parts for it to be used by third-party repair shops. Most likely, it would cost you more to repair it, than what you paid for it.
There were two "1st generation" AirPort Express base stations. Both look identical from the outside.
Both are also "plug-in" models. That is, they did not come with an external power adapter. (See image below.) Is this what you have?
Upon checking, it is the A1084.
