CarPlay stopped working after iOS 18.1.1 update

CarPlay stopped working in 2023 Benz after updating to iOS 18.1.1. Phone won’t connect to car play, nor will it pair as a new phone to car. I deleted the old connection and tried to re-pair it to the car to get Apple CarPlay to work again and now it won’t even pair! Please help

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18

Hey folks. I did a lot of searching and trying things and finally had success today so I wanted to share. By the way I have a vpn too and in or off that did not help my situation. What worked was this. 1) Delete phone from car and delete car from phone. 2) RENAME phone 3) Reconnect. This solved it for me. Now this is a 2021 Porsche Macan so every car might be different but I’m thinking that the bug has to do with settings embedded in the way our phones used to connect to our cars and somehow that’s married to the profile the phone has which is associated with it’s device name. So when I gave my iPhone a new personalized name it forced a brand new ios18 connection which must have created new connection preferences. I’m speculating here by the way. But whatever the reason, after deleting the car from the phone and the phone from the car and renaming the phone and reconnecting as a new phone…it worked. To rename your phone go to settings>general>about and change the name. Good luck. I hope it works for everyone.

I had the same issue, and scoured various forums to try all the recommendations. Here is what worked for me in resolving the issue:

1) Delete the vehicle from the Phone’s CarPlay (settings/general/carplay)

2) Delete the vehicle from the Phone’s Bluetooth

3) RENAME THE PHONE (Settings/About/Name)

4) Reset Phone

5) Delete Phone from Car’s Bluetooth

6) Reconnect the phone to car’s Bluetooth and plug into CarPlay. This starts resets the connection to the vehicle completely.

Update: iPhone 16; iOS 18.1.1; 2024 Lexus RX350h. I connect via Bluetooth.

I called my Dealer's Lexus Technology Specialist today to see if they had any recommendations. They did not however confirmed that many customers have reported the same issue. Lexus is aware of it and working on an update to their app. When the update is available, it will be pushed out over the air and my car will get it automatically.

This is pretty much what I figured out after spending time researching and not finding anything else to try. So, I'll wait for the Lexus update and go from there. If you have not yet contacted your Dealer's equivalent of the Lexus Technology Specialist, you may want to do so to be sure that they are working on updates to their apps. I suspect that is the problem for many and the more noise that is made, the sooner you will see an update.

I have a 2020 Acura TLX and Car Play stopped working once I upgraded to 18.1.1. If I reboot the phone it will connect for a bit then the Car Play on the car goes black. If I plug in again nothing, the Car Play keeps trying to connect. I have tried multiple cables and removing the phone from the car system. I tried an older phone and it works fine (not upgraded)

After a month and a half of not being able to use CarPlay, today it decided to work again. I have been trying various "fixes" over that time including unpairing from both ends and repairing 987 times (more or less), turning VPN off, renaming, etc. Pretty much everything listed in the string and other places over and over and over again. Retrying every few days. This morning, I tried again and Voila! It repaired seamlessly. Like magic. The only thing I have done recently was turning off Apple Intelligence and being sure Siri was set to Allow when locked.

Same thing. iPhone 15 pro, 2019 Camaro (wired CarPlay). I finally started making calls today after numerous attempts to personally troubleshoot. After resetting to haven’t settings on my phone and car, apple and GM running diagnostic tests, the final conclusion was to get a Apple usb-a to c cable from the Apple Store (they told me they sold them) well, after looking, there isn’t one. I was given all the same instructions as listed here. They acted like they aren’t aware of this being a common issue…..
