Replacing external SSD with a larger SSD

I need to replace my 1TB Samsung t7 with a 4TB version. The drive is used to store sound samples which are used by Cubase and Logic Pro.

If I simply copy the files and them name the new drive the same as the old one will the computer 'know' it is a different drive and mess up my file pathways? I would like to avoid this if possible!

Alternatively, would cloning the first drive using Disc Utility Restore function solve this issue?

It should work. I'd use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the new drive from the old one. All computer devices have unique hardware identifiers, even if they're given the same name, as with hard drives. Some apps ignore this info, some do not. I don't think Logic will care.
