Syncing iCloud Messages between MacBook Air and iPhone 14 Pro Max

The Messages used to be in perfect sync. This week I noticed that they were not. I checked to make sure that both devices were logged into the same account in Settings and iCloud. To my surprise, the iPhone Messages had been set to No. So, I tapped Messages and turned ON Use on this iPhone. In the time it took for me to compose this description the Messages sync'ed. Did Apple announce this feature would be turned off by Default, in their last iOS Update? I must have missed that announcement. Posted so that others can learn what I did.
