Need Help with the decision to buy a renewed 2018 ipad 12.9 pro or the 13 Ipad air

I had a 2018 Ipad Pro 12.9, 3rd gen for over 5 yrs but it was destroyed. I found a renewed one on amazon for $419 512 gb (no service agmt); but I am looking at the new 13" ipad air for $899 with a service agmt available. The 2018 Ipad pro is historically an outstanding ipad and I would love to own another one however with no service agreement I am leary. I am willing to go buy thenew ipad air even though its a lot more but I would have a service agmt.


I know sometimes these service agmts are not all that great.


Just conflicted - of course I would love to spend just $419 but I will spend more for the new. I just really need help with this decision.

The iPad Pro 12.9" 3rd gen 2018 is already 6 years old. It use an A12X processor which probably won't be compatible with the next version of iPadOS (iPadOS 19, which most likely will be published next September). Furthermore, this processor is not compatible with Apple Intelligence that Apple introduced in iPadOS 18.


The iPad Air 13" M2 is brand new. It uses an M2 processor that is fully compatible with Apple Intelligence. This model will receive many years of iPadOS upgrades (iPadOS 19...), most likely for the next 6 years or so. Furthermore, you'll be able to subscribe to an AppleCare+ contract to extend the warranty if you so choose.
