The iPhone 16 Pro Max automatically records videos in MP4 format (H.264 codec) or HEVC format, depending on the settings.


HEVC (High Efficiency) format is more storage-efficient but is saved in an .MOV file. If you’re recording videos with High Efficiency selected, you may need to convert the file later to MP4 using a video converter app.
