The iPhone 16 Pro Max automatically records videos in MP4 format (H.264 codec) or HEVC format, depending on the settings.
HEVC (High Efficiency) format is more storage-efficient but is saved in an .MOV file. If you’re recording videos with High Efficiency selected, you may need to convert the file later to MP4 using a video converter app.

Settings->Camera->Formats->Select Most Compatible
Settings->Camera->Record Video->Select 4K and fps
no .MP4 format only .MOV
MP4 is the container and H.264 is the CODEC. The CODEC must be inside a container.
If the encoded formats are not MP4 then they are likely MOV, but could be AVI or MKV. You’ll need to use software to convert MOV to MP4.
