My microphone won’t work within texts

When I press the microphone icon it darkens as though it’s recording my voice but no words appear in the text message box. Please help. Any advice? This just started,

Lost Voice Message-Text: Microphone Works/Siri, Voice Memos Work When sending a text I use to be able to hold the microphone button down and record a voice message. That’s all gone, I have microphone icon in the message box. But can’t hold it, and does voice to text when I push, that’s it. I’ve a lot of the online fixes w/out success. Additionally there use to be a bar with options, like photos, emojis, and other random options. That’s gone too. Am I missing something?

Please see if dictation is on:

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard. Turn on Enable Dictation. If a prompt appears, tap Enable Dictation.
