Macbook Pro A2251 Fans Running at Full Speed

The fans on my 2020 MacBook Pro start running full speed multiple times daily when I do everyday activities, such as using Google Chrome or Microsoft Word. It also gets very hot on the bottom and loses battery extremely fast. However, I took it in for repair, and they said there was nothing they could do since the battery health was normal. They suggested not using Microsoft, but this is essential for me. Activity Monitor shows nothing abnormal taking up energy. Is there anything I can do besides stop using Microsoft Word or getting a new laptop?

Try and restart the Mac to see if the issues persist. If you might want to see if the issues remain in the safe mode, please boot in the safe mode to see if the issues perist

Start up your Intel-based Mac in safe mode

  1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key until you see the login window.
  2. Log in to your Mac.
  3. You might be asked to log in again.
  4. On either the first or second login window, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

If the issues don't persist in the safe mode you might want to evaluate the software installed to your Mac

Fans are only a symptom of energy use, usually from the CPU, but it could be from the GPU. And it some cases, it can be caused by some hardware fault. This can be something as minor as a video dongle.

Plus, by default, Activity Monitor doesn't show you all processes.

Chrome is known to be very resource intensive, but usually not debilitating. Word does not cause these problems.

Many people are experiencing WhatsApp running out of control. Its developer has abandoned it. But really, this could be caused by anything, most of which is hidden from you.
