Hello. Apple 14 pro. I have lost numerous contacts and cannot restore. I was told by Verizon that this is connected to removing an email account that was connected to a previous job. Doesn’t make sense.

Contacts are saved in email accounts. Could be iCloud, gmail, yahoo, etc. or could also be an Exchange account from work. In any case, when you remove a mail account that you have contacts in, they are removed from the phone. This is especially true in the case of Exchange accounts, as your employer controls those accounts and the content actually belongs to them. The only way to recover those contacts would be to add that account back to the device and then copy them to a new account.

Makes perfect sense. You were syncing your contacts with that email account. The only way to get them back would be to re-add the account. Assuming that’s not an option, the contacts are gone. Anything synced with company systems are the property of the company, not you. You should NEVER store personal information in company systems.
Quite honestly I didn’t realize I was. These are contacts that were saved years prior to employment.
