Lost contacts on new ipad

On iPad: How to:

Use other contact accounts

says:

"Add contacts from another account

Go to Settings  > Contacts > Accounts, then tap Add Account.

Choose an account, sign in to it, then turn on Contacts".

Else: You may be able to log-in to your HotMail account online, and retrieve (or export) the contacts from the online account.
