Cast chrome to non- smart tv

I am wanting to cast apple tv+ on macbook pro through chrome.

Mac keeps sending me to the settings page to complete the process but without indicating which of the many settings to give chrome permissions in. It is not a smart tv but is equipped with a powered up dongle. Can anyone help please. Kind regards Stoneshot.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.1

Apple TV+ and the Apple TV app do not support Chromecast (now: Google Cast) from themselves. Instead they support AirPlay, which is a different protocol with different support.

The Chrome browser should support Chromecast. This would then be a question on using the Chrome browser. See:

Cast from Chrome to your TV - Chromecast - Google Streaming Help

Cast a tab from Chrome
Important: To cast on a Mac computer with macOS 15 or later, you must give Chrome access in your system settings.
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, select More ⋮ ﹥Cast, save, and share﹥Cast…
3. Select the cast receiver you want to use.
* If the device is already in use, the current content is replaced.
4. To end the cast, on the right of the address bar, select Cast﹥Stop casting.

To give the Chrome browser access to your home network, to allow for Chromecast to happen, you will need to adjust:

System Settings﹥Privacy & Security﹥Local Network (macOS 15+ only)﹥…

and

System Settings﹥Privacy & Security﹥Screen & System Audio Recording﹥…

Turn the options to ‘On’ to allow these functions for the Chrome browser app. Add Chrome if not listed.

Now restart the Chrome browser and try again. Some users had to reboot the computer.

If it doesn’t work initially, and if Chrome app was listed for these multiple times, remove them, then add it again (once per system setting), to ignore any previous settings for this, and start with a blank slate.

(MDM controlled machines may have this blocked.)
