Read receipts won’t turn off

After my phone did the latest update I noticed read receipts were showing up on my text messages. I already went to the settings and it was already toggle off yet. It’s still showing red receipts. Anyone have a fix for this.

How do I enable read receipts on my iPhone 15 Plus for Messages? I have an Iphone 15 and I am unable to find a way to see when my messages are read. I understand that in settings under messages you can see a setting to turn on read receipts. I don’t have that option on my phone at all. [Re-Titled By Moderator]
