Hi, I have 3 minutes of video and audio footage in my project. For some reason, the timeline extends to 15 minutes of blank space. Any time I try to zoom in, I end up at the end of the 15 minute project and I have to scroll endlessly to get back to my actual video. How can I fix this and get rid of the blank space? Nothing online I've seen has worked so far.

In case the project got somehow corrupted, this may help: Select All; Copy; make a new project with the desired frame size and frame rate; Paste.
If the new project is ok, you can discard the old one.
My goal is to lock the zoom at around the length of the video if that’s possible.
It is not possible to lock the timeline display, but I think there will be no problem if you display it at the size you like.
There are two ways.
I had this issue, but many versions ago.
Select the clips specifically, NOT select all. Then copy/paste into a new Project as mentioned already. What happens?
What happens if you press Shift-Z? Does it zoom to show you the 3 minutes or 15?
Delete the Preferences/Settings.
I can zoom in for my project to fill the timeline, but any wrong nudge of my mouse zooms me back out to the full thing. My goal is to lock the zoom at around the length of the video if that’s possible. I don’t need the timeline to cut off precisely at the end, but the additional 10+ minutes at the end for seemingly no reason is annoying.
Project almost definitely isn’t corrupted because I had just barely gotten started. I tried copying everything to a new project and the same exact problem is happening. I’m guessing this is a setting that I just can’t find or maybe FCP won’t let you turn this off.
There seems to be nothing wrong with your project. The project length is 3:24:19 judging by your screen shot. What are you doing with your mouse that makes it slide all the way off? Maybe your horizontal scroll wheel is too sensitive?
Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing in the timeline?
