How do I connect my old router to a new iMac?
We have an IMac from 2011. We have not been using it, and finally are tired of using phones and IPads for internet searches. The IMac has our airport as a router, which I know they have been discontinued for some time. My Time Machine is linked with the airport. I know I probably sound dumb, but since I need to replace the router, how do I transfer info to the new computer? Do I cable them together? I don’t even think that the old airport will work with a new iMac.
Additionally, on the 2011 Mac, we have a lot of CD’s that we physically loaded to our iTunes. Once the computer could not update to the newer OS, we did not have the music on our updated phones. I went to the Apple Store this evening to look at what we were going to get in the next few weeks and the sales person said that if I wanted to add the music to my existing iTunes, I will have to reload each CD separately with an external CD drive. Is this the case? I still have all of the CDS, but that was so much work.
I currently have apple one with iCloud.
Please ask me any more questions, I want to be able to do this somewhat easily, if possible.
Thanks
