In Numbers can I copy a number into another document

I want to copy a number from one document to a new one in a separate Numbers document. The number was calculated (i.e. one cell + another cell). Can this result be copied into a new, separate Numbers document? If it can, will the number be updated when it changes in the original cell?

Numbers doesn’t support cross-file referencing, so if you copy a result from one document and paste it into another, it will just be a static number that won’t update when the original changes. You could try combining the documents into one file, or use Excel instead.
