Can't switch music libraries

I have a huge collection of downloaded music on my iMac that I don't want to lose by sync'ing my libraries. I have a sync'd library on my iPhone and MBP. Previously, if I wanted to access the sync'd library on my iMac, I could copy the library from my MBP and choose it when I opened Music on my iMac. No longer. It reverts to my local iMac library even if I remove the library from the Music folder and place it on the Desktop. I reverts to that library even if I remove both the iCloud and local libraries. Where is it reading it from with no library in the folder? And how can I restore this capability?

iMac 24″, macOS 15.1

Like iTunes before it Music will usually open the last library successfully opened unless you hold down option as you launch the app, and then choose or select a different library. Moving the library to the desktop or the trash doesn't prevent this as a Mac will attempt to reconnect to content moved or renamed within a volume. I did use the option key before opening.

Do you get the option to choose or create a library? If not try holding option as or even just before tapping on the Music icon? If you do try holding down option+cmd first which opens Music in its safe mode, then hold Option immediately after acknowledging the safe mode prompt. You might also try rebooting the computer without reopening windows before trying once more, in case the issue here is that Music isn't really closing out properly, so still reopens with the previous library.
