You can upgrade to Ventura Version 13.7.2 (22H313). The Apple Magic Mouse should work with Ventura. What makes you think it won't?

There's a new Magic Mouse in town, and it doesn't play well (at least not officially) with Ventura.

Apple – Magic Mouse (USB‑C) - White Multi-Touch Surface

System Requirements

  • Mac with macOS 15.1 or later
  • iPad with iPadOS 18.1 or later

Apple's habit of setting very high system requirements for new keyboards and mice – something they've been doing for a while now – is getting very annoying.

When they introduce the new models, they usually discontinue the old ones, so now they've locked out all Mac users who want/need to buy a new Magic Mouse, but are running anything less than Sequoia!

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

I have Ventura 13.7.1 and I recently had to replace my Magic Mouse. When I installed the new Mouse it works with tracking etc BUT there is no 'More Gestures' tab - so that I cannot get scrolling or any extra swiping to work.

When I investigated this in the Apple community it seems my older version of Ventura will not work fully with the new Mouse - So I'm stuck
