2018 MacBook Pro with old iCloud account

I purchased an old MacBook with the intention of using as my travel PC. I need to remove my icloud account and add a different one. I'm a newby to Mac. Anyone have the time to guide me through the process like I'm 3?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 14.6

If this is a Mac you've been using for a while and it's signed into an Apple Account you own, it's pretty straightforward. Take a look here:

Sign in or out of your Apple ID on Mac - Apple Support

Note that if you have any content stored in iCloud using your existing Apple Account that you want to have on that MacBook, you'll want to copy that content to the MacBook before you sign out of that account.

However, if this is a Mac you just purchased and it's signed into some else's Apple Account, then only the owner of that account can remove it.

Regards.
