How to import Music with correct Artist info in iTunes?

When i import songs from my desktops Music does not automatically write the artist in the artist column whereas the original file is well labelled.

If someone could give me the solution.

WAV files don't carry a tag at all. Apparently it is technically feasible, but almost no software does it, and in particular neither iTunes nor Music are able to add a tag or read one if it is there. If you turn off the option to keep the media files organized in Music's preferences, don't use the Automatically Add to Music folder, or add them in from a location outside the Media folder and don't have the Copy files... option selected then Music will leave these files in their original folders, otherwise they likely get moved to Unknown Artist/Unknown Album which makes them harder to repair. Assuming you can keep them in conventional artist and album subfolders before adding these into Music then I have an AppleScript that can parse the information in the path into details to apply to the library. The layout should be along the lines of .../<Artist or Album Artist>/<Album>/[D-]##/<Name>.<Ext>. See "Get Info" changes album name and relocat… - Apple Community for details.

I made an error in the section of text that I reposted, I originally typed a slash between the ## to represent the track number digits and <Name>, when I should have used a space.

Apart from that error my earlier on December 9 long reply should describe a potential reason why your files don't import with the details that you expect. WAV files don't have a tag. Apple Music reads the filename, complete with any leading track number digits, as a song name, and that's all you get, so these tracks are listed under Unknown Artist & Unknown Album. As noted if other details are present in the path, and you arrange to import the files in a way that doesn't change the file path, then I have an AppleScript that can rebuild the missing details. The blue text in my previous post is a link to an older thread where I discuss that script in more detail and provide a link to it. Alternatively go back to the source machine and convert the tracks to Apple Lossless which you can transfer and import complete with metadata.
