How to create a shortcut to take a full screenshot, then save it to Photos using the Shortcut app?

I'd like to create a Shortcut that will take a full screenshot, then essentially select the thumbnail of that screenshot which normally sits in the bottom right of the screen, then execute the Add to Photos function. It'll be my first time using the Shortcut app; will that be possible? Thanks for any help.

The screenshot feature can be pre-programmed to save your screenshots to any location automatically.

To program, Click "screenshot" and click "options." Then select "other locations". You can then select ANY location that appears on your Finder list. In your case you would select Pictures.

Now, every time you click screenshot, without doing anything, your screenshot will be saved in Pictures or any other Finder location automatically.

Now all you need is a shortcut to invoke the screenshot feature since screenshot itself is now programmed to do a full screen capture directly to your pictures location.

I do a LOT of screenshots and they are automatically saved to my NAS. I don't really need a shortcut. I just click the screenshot Icon, another click to capture and the rest is automatic.

I have screenshot programmed so that all of my screenshots are automatically saved to a folder on my NAS. Basically just 2 clicks. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Jakecrow. I hadn't seen that option in the Screenshot app to save the screenshot to the Pictures folder. I've now set Screenshot to save to the Pictures folder, but I was expecting those to show up in the Photos app and I don't see them. They're not in Library, or in Recently Saved, or in Screenshots under Media Types. Thanks for any help with that.

I was able to create a very simple, two-step shortcut to do what I want to do:

(1) Take screenshot

(2) Save Screenshot to Recents

This way, it shows up right in the Photos app.

(The irony is that on the iPhone and iPad, a screenshot is saved right into the Photos app automatically, but not on a Mac.)
