Use the Activity Monitor:

You have an 8-Core CPU, yet reports show "There have been numerous cases of apps with heavy CPU usage.". So, see what is taking the most out of the CPU. Perhaps it Google Chrome? Or something else? To Find Out, use Activity Monitor and view the percent of each app...

  1. Go to: Applications
  2. Select: Utilities folder
  3. Open: Activity Monitor
  4. Click: Memory column

Is this Covered Under AppleCare?

A. Get this Serviced:

Take this in for a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. Bring a proof of purchase with you. There, it would be diagnosed, and you'd be provided with your options. Back Up your Mac First:  Be certain you Create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac, so that way you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the service.

B. Contact these Developers:

Find the DevelopersContact Us into in the App Store, or in their own Web site. Inform them of what is going on, and ask them if they are aware of this and what fixes they may recommend, including a new install of the software, backing up your files, first.

C. Always have a Backup:

Backing up would most certainly be wise. It can be from your entire computer (through use of Migration Assistant), or just certain items(through use of external storage). And you should do so every so often, particularly before and after installing updates and new software.

D. Backup > Restore > The Migrate:

So, did you create a Time Machine Backup prior to all of this? If so, you may want to backup your Mac, and then restore from that backup. Then, use Migration Assistant to migrate your items into it. Another option would be the back it up and then reset this to factory settings, using Migration Assistant in the same fashion.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.

High cpu usage is mostly done by Notes, Mail app, web whatsapp others are system process like; kernel_task, coreaudiod, WindowServer, audioanalyticsd, airportd. I did check none of this app is stopping mac to go to sleep. whenever I close the lid, I hear the mac has been reboooted.

and memory usage is a lot as well by web whatsapp, firefox and window server. I did fresh re-install os but the problem still persists. No idea if apple wants me to upgrade the machine :)

Hi, the macbook is like 4 years old so the battery went down to 82.3 capacity and it had like 870 cycles too. so I thought main culprit is hardware not the software but after replacing battery the problem is still there. Battery was replaced by apple authorized service shops.

I am a mac heavy user so almost all the profiles n softwares are must for my workload. I even had the same problem with sonoma as well. I m not sure what should I do differently to make this problem go away.
